由平面设计师Richard Turley和艺术家 Lucas Mascatello 共同创办，《Civilization》诞生于2018年这个影像的时代。人们的生活被无数媒体充斥着，图像不断被创造并复制自身的形象。沉迷于“形象”这个概念——在一个高度策划、自我监控的信息时代，这个单词比以往任何时候都更加丰富。

《Civilization #5》专注于文字、涵盖了犯罪统计、自我怀疑、性生活、饮食习惯、直升机等极为混乱的故事…采用一种荒诞又有点过时的版式，坚持着独特的编辑立场，分散的捕捉充满紧张感的纽约生活，引导读者穿梭其中。像是一张包罗万象但带有少许宗教意味的地图，描绘了今日纽约人内在与外在的体验。内容几乎完全拒绝图像，大量文本会让人产生近似真实对话般的对抗性。跳进去看看你能发现什么，《Civilization》会是一个吸引你翻开它的残酷又美丽的大脑垃圾场。
